Mason Prep's Inaugural Castles & the Community Giving Day Supports a Local Nonprofit

Mason Prep School's recent day of giving, "Castles & the Community," raised $1,290 for American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Charleston.
Students at Mason Prep are divided into four Castles. The Castles meet throughout the year and have a year-long, friendly competition to see which Castle can earn the most points through acts of kindness, school spirit, field days, and more.

For the giving day, students in each Castle learned about many local nonprofits and participated in a Castle-wide vote to select the nonprofit they wanted to support. The MPS community was then invited to give to the Castle of their choice during a 24-hour giving window. The Castle that raised the most funds won the opportunity to present their chosen nonprofit with a percentage of the total raised.

"We are thrilled to support Hope Lodge and are grateful to Senior Manager Kelsey Ray for visiting our school to speak to our students about the mission of Hope Lodge and how our contribution will have a direct impact on cancer patients and their families," said Head of School Jennifer Baker. "As community service is a cornerstone of a Mason Prep education, students will continue to support all four of our chosen nonprofits through different efforts."

Said Madison Anderson, Mason Prep's Director of Development, "We are so grateful for our MPS community and their support of this initiative. We are excited to strengthen our nonprofit relationships and give back to our local community through student-directed collaborations that make a lasting difference."
