Global Language

Enabling Students to Communicate in Language & Culture

Our French and Spanish programs enable students to approach proficiency in another language while preparing them for engagement in a global community. Beginning in kindergarten, students take a semester of French and a semester of Spanish until the end of second grade, when the students choose to continue with either the French or Spanish program. Students are prepared with the goal of attaining high school credit at the end of their 8th grade year.

The target language and cultures are taught through authentic resources, interactive projects, and celebrations, such as our day-long Mardi Gras/Carnaval event and our World Cup competition. Each program is designed to allow for student creativity, to encourage critical thinking, and to explore cultural influence near and abroad.
According to studies conducted by the OIF (Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie), 750 million people will speak the French language by 2050. Additional language forecasts suggest that by that same year, the United States will have more Spanish speakers than Spain.

Now, more than ever, learning a secondary language is important!
Our global language program centers around the National Standards for Foreign Language Education.
