NOTE: Our last day of school is May 30, but we are at school and available over the summer. Our summer hours are 8:30-1:30, Monday - Thursday.
As you know, KnightLine is our online parent portal. To access KnightLine, simply log in to your Mason Prep account (like you did to complete your contract, using your email address and the password you created). On June 16, our system will update to the 2025-26 school year. On that day, you will be able to use the system as a current parent.

On KnightLine, you can find the following (see the top menu once you login):
  • Class pages: this is where you can find information about your student’s assignments and grades.
  • Resource boards: these boards have information about everything from lunch to after-school activities.
    • New Families Resource Board: this board links directly to this New Families webpage.
    • NOTE: You may find that some of the information on the resource boards is for the 2024-25 school year. Updates to resource boards will be made as information for the 2025-26 school year is finalized.
  • Calendar: the online calendar shows school events, holidays, and games for our team sports. You can download this calendar to your iCal – find instructions on the School Forms & Info resource board.

  • 2025-26 School Calendar

  • Summer Work Packets

Students (rising 1st -8th graders) are given summer work packets to complete during the break. Summer work packets may be accessed through KnightLine on the School Forms & Info resource board the first part of June. You will receive an email when the summer work packets have been uploaded to KnightLine.

The teachers spend a great deal of time developing helpful, engaging math reviews and have shared wonderful books for students to enjoy over the summer months. We hope that each child will develop a plan of action to guide them in completing this very important work that will help keep their minds engaged but will not take them away from fun and exciting summer activities. Please read the appropriate grade’s work for your child and pay careful attention to that teacher’s expectations for the summer work. Summer work is due the first full day of school, August 14.

Parents of rising 1st graders: the kindergarten teachers have provided review work that will help to keep your student's skills sharp over the summer. Please note that your child will NOT need to turn in any written work when they return to school in the fall - this is simply for review.
  • SchoolPass

We partner with SchoolPass to enhance safety on our campus, increase efficiency in the carpool line, and provide parents with an additional means of communication. SchoolPass is an app that you download to your phone (it may also be accessed via a desktop computer).

Please see the SchoolPass resource board for more information and how-to videos.

We use SchoolPass in the following ways:

    Carpool Line
SchoolPass allows us to dismiss students more safely, quickly, and efficiently. Students remain inside the school building during carpool time. Families are given special RFID tags for their cars (you will receive yours in the mail), which are scanned by a staff member as you pull through the carpool line. The system notifies the teacher who is supervising your student so that your child can be at the door and ready to come to your car by the time you arrive at the front of the line.

    Emergencies
SchoolPass allows the school to notify faculty and staff of an emergency on campus and also provides a means for accounting for each person on campus during an emergency. School emergency alerts can be created for any situation, including suspicious visitors, fire drills, and actual emergency events. Any faculty or staff member can initiate an alert. If an emergency occurs, teachers and staff will take emergency attendance by marking students and anyone else they are with as accounted for. This lets administrators know whether or not each student, faculty/staff member, and any campus visitor has been accounted for, and that information may be passed along to police, fire, etc. SchoolPass also allows the school to send emergency and non-emergency messages (like weather closures) to our school community.

    Visitor Management
We can screen and track all campus visitors including parents, vendors, and volunteers. Each new visitor checks in with the office and provides a driver's license so that the system can complete a background check. The visitor then receives a badge, which they wear during their time on campus. Parents go through the background check on their first visit to school, but not subsequent visits.

    Attendance
Parents are asked to self-report their student’s attendance status from the SchoolPass app rather than contacting the office or the child's teacher. If your child is sick, will be late to school, or if you need to pick them up early, you can report that via the app. SchoolPass will automatically notify the office and the child's teacher.
  • Mentor Families and Buddies

We match your family with a mentor family (Mr. Petty will be in touch about this). Please feel free to contact this family when you need a parent perspective and be sure to schedule get-togethers for your student and his or her buddy - seeing that familiar face on the first day of school is so helpful!
  • School Communications

You will begin to receive emails from the school when you become a current parent in our system (June 16). School communications include:
    • Knightly News: This email is sent every Sunday at 1:00 and includes a calendar and notices about upcoming events. The Knightly News pauses over the summer and will begin in August.
    • Highlights from the Head: These emails, from Mrs. Baker, are sent at the end of the month and highlight all of the interesting things that happened at school over the month.
    • News from Mason Prep: This e-newsletter is sent every 2 months to our parents and wider MPS community.
    • The Round Table: This printed newsletter is produced twice a year and is mailed to our parents and emailed to the wider MPS community.
  • School Supplies

There are two options for purchasing school supplies. Students should bring their school supplies on the first day of school.
    • Order online: The Knights Parent Guild offers online ordering through 1st Day School Supplies. Boxes with all the required supplies for your child's grade level are delivered to your home over the summer. You will receive an email about the deadline for ordering supplies online.
    • Purchase your own supplies: A list of required supplies will be emailed to you over the summer and will also be placed on the School Forms & Info resource board on KnightLine.

List of 6 items.

  • Uniforms

Students in grades K-8 wear school uniforms 3 days a week and PE uniforms 2 days a week. All uniforms are ordered through Lands’ End. You can find the uniform guidelines and information about uniforms and ordering on the School Uniform resource board on KnightLine.

Pre-K students will wear PE uniforms each day.

Also, the Knights Parent Guild sells used uniforms throughout the year. Parents can purchase gently used PE and regular uniforms at a greatly reduced price. The clothing for sale is from an ever-changing inventory of parent-donated, clean uniforms in good condition. See the KPG resource board on KnightLine for information about how to purchase used uniforms.
  • Lunches

Students may either bring their lunch from home or order from the Knights Parent Guild. The KPG Lunch Program partners with Schoolhouse Fare to offer students a different vendor with several menu items to choose from each day. Ordering and payment are done online. You will receive an email over the summer with complete information about lunch, including the vendors and registration instructions.

NOTE: All students enjoy a brief snack break in the morning. Please send a healthy snack with your child each day.
  • After-School Activities

We offer a range of activities for all ages through our After-School program. Activities are typically one day per week from 3:00 until approximately 4:00. The list of activities and registration information for first semester will be in the Knightly News in August.
  • Extended Day

Students may stay at school until 5:45 via our Extended Day program. During this time, students have time to study and then may play outside until a parent or designated person picks them up. Extended Day options and registration instructions for the 2025-26 school year will be in the Knightly News in August.
  • Team Sports

Students in grades 4-8 may choose to participate on an MPS team. Additionally, students in grades K-3 may play on one of our developmental basketball teams. You will receive an email soon outlining the opportunities available for the 2025-26 school year.
  • Knights Parent Guild

The Knights Parent Guild (KPG) is a long-standing, very active volunteer organization that offers a wide array of support to the students, families, faculty, and staff of the school. The KPG also offers many volunteer opportunities that are a great way to meet other parents and get involved. These opportunities can fit different schedules, so everyone can join in the fun. A packet containing membership information and volunteer opportunities will be sent to you toward the beginning of school.
Mason Preparatory School is committed to the education of the whole child in preparation for secondary education through the cultivation of respect, integrity, and personal responsibility within a nurturing environment that results in a productive citizen of a global community.
